If you are considering upgrading your SAP BusinessObjects or Crystal Server on-premise environment to the latest version - SAP BusinessObjects BI 4.2 SP7 or SAP Crystal Server 2016 SP7 – then DSCallards has the experience to help you through the process.
Usually an upgrade from a 4.x environment to the latest version is a simple process. SAP have worked hard to streamline the installation and give both ‘phased’ and ‘silent’ install options as well as the straight-forward one. In-situ upgrades of the platform and other add-ins and client tools can be achieved in a day in most single-server deployments.
The process is smooth and downtime is usually kept to a minimum. Scheduled reports can run in the morning and users are normally back in the system in the late afternoon.
With the last upgrade package to 4.2 SP7 however our consultants have found a pattern of abnormal behaviour following the application of the platform update. In all cases we have been able to complete the upgrade with no detrimental effects to the customers’ reporting, but we have had to spend longer to do so and overcome technical issues that end-users or customer IT departments would not have seen before.
